What are your thoughts about the academic experience at Sacred Heart?
The academic experience at Sacred Heart is very positive. The environment this school provides to learn in is great. The teachers readily make themselves available to answer questions and give extra help so I feel like I do not have to worry about not being prepared for any test or class. I love the scheduling and organization of the tests, especially because although it does not completely alleviate stress, it considerably lightens the burden of studying for too many tests in one night. In this way, I feel like I have a better opportunity to learn and master the material.
What does being a student at Sacred Heart mean to you?
Being a student at Sacred Heart means truly striving to be the best in all ways. Sacred Heart is filled with people who work hard to excel in school, sports and even after school in clubs. Instead of this being intimidating, the drive of Sacred Heart girls is simply an extra incentive besides my own determination to do the same.
Why did you choose to attend Sacred Heart?
I felt that the environment here was much more welcoming and beneficial to me than the other schools I looked at. The people at Sacred Heart made me immediately feel comfortable and welcome. The students and staff here made me feel confident that I would not only get a good education but I would also enjoy going to school here as I experience new things with new people.
What have you learned about yourself by being a part of the Sacred Heart community?
Being at Sacred Heart, I have become more open in class and less afraid to ask questions. I have been able to learn how to take what people say and use it as constructive criticism to build me up. Doing this, I have been able to worry less about what people think about me in class and more about what I can do to continually better myself.
How have the values of the Goals & Criteria affected your time here?
I have seen the Goals and Criteria at work at Sacred heart, especially the criteria of goal five: to foster a sense of hope in the individual and the community. I feel this is especially relevant because here each student can find different ways to feel more at home and in their element. At the same time, the entire Sacred Heart community is constantly brought together in assemblies, and service projects that not only relate the students to each other but also to the rest of the outside surrounding community, for example, the service projects, peer support, and Habitat for Humanity.
What special characteristics of Sacred Heart make it feel like a second home?
Being surrounded by people other than your family who genuinely care about not just your grades but also your general well-being makes Sacred Heart feel more like a second home than a school.
Describe the feeling you had on your first day of school this year.
Because this is my second year here, I was more excited than nervous. I was happy to see all of my classmates that I did not see all summer and I felt comfortable and at home as I walked back into the school building. Naturally, I was apprehensive, as most of my classmates probably were, about starting a new year with new teachers and new courses, but none of this was really a problem as I quickly adjusted to sophomore year.
If there was only one word you could use to describe what Sacred Heart means to you, what would it be?
Success
