What are your thoughts about the academic experience at Sacred Heart?
The academic preparation the students receive is outstanding. Not only do we strive to prepare the students academically, we strive to educate the whole child. The students leave Sacred Heart with a firm foundation in all academic areas. They have the confidence to participate in sports, the ability to express their opinions without fear, the skill to lead a group, and an open mind to address the needs of the neediest in our society. But most importantly, they leave Sacred Heart with a strong faith and a belief that they can make a difference.
What does being a teacher at Sacred Heart mean to you?
Being a part of Sacred Heart means belonging to a family within the walls of 91st Street, but also a part of the larger family that includes the nearly 150 schools around the world. Wherever you go, you have a home at the Sacred Heart. You are supported in everything you do and encouraged to grow professionally, which will ultimately have an impact on all the students you teach.
What have you learned about yourself by being a part of the Sacred Heart community?
My faith has deepened and I have grown professionally by my associations with an outstanding faculty and adult community.
How have the values of the Goals and Criteria affected your time here?
This is a part of who I am. The five goals are how I live my life. These are the values my family instilled in me at an early age and they have been re-enforced at Sacred Heart!
What special characteristics of Sacred Heart make it feel like a second home?
Genuine warmth of every member of Sacred Heart as well as the Network. The care we have for each child and adult.
Describe the feeling you had on your first day of school.
I spent four years at another Sacred Heart school and returned to 91st Street in 2007. On my first day, I felt as if I had never left. It was truly a homecoming!
If there was only one word you could use to describe what Sacred Heart means to you, what would it be?
Grace. We as a community permit God to work through each of us!
