Lower School

When a student comes to the Lower School each morning, she enters a vibrant, happy environment where she is nurtured and challenged to become an independent learner and a leader.

Instilling confidence and a strong sense of self is an important focus in the Lower School: children flourish when they are seen as individuals and have opportunities to develop talents and experience affirmation. Traditions play an influential role in helping each child appreciate that she is loved for who she is and valued as a member of the Sacred Heart community.

The academic program in the Lower School is designed to develop competency and encourage creativity in each student. Children develop effective writing skills, a love of language and culture, and an understanding of people and events. They are introduced to French and Spanish in the early grades. Problem-solving skills and logical thinking are developed through various approaches to math, and creative expression is taught and encouraged in both the academic subjects as well as in the visual and performing arts. Technology is integrated into the entire curriculum and learning is ongoing in all aspects of school life.
