Upper School

Keen minds, energetic bodies and compassionate hearts combine to make the Upper School a magical place. This is a populace of approximately 200 students in grades nine through twelve developing into fuller and more whole human beings.

Students, in community, share an active faith in God, achieve academic excellence, serve others, and carry out responsible freedom. Pictured at right is Head of Upper School, Ms. Margaret L. Savino, in an advisory group session with students.

Upper School students' demanding schedules include college preparatory academic requirements and electives, in addition to special interests with after-school clubs, athletics, and community service projects. At Sacred Heart, a strong emphasis is placed on thinking and writing, developing reasoning, problem-solving skills, and forming creative, yet disciplined, self-expression. Collaborative work, library and research skills, proper use of technology and media literacy are strongly integrated into all classes. Our committed faculty members challenge students and provide a network of support. For a detailed look at the Upper School curriculum, please download the 2010-2011 Curriculum Guide.
