Do I need to contact Sacred Heart the day after Labor Day in order to receive an application?

No, Sacred Heart does not limit the number of applications sent out. An application may be submitted online as of August 15th. Alternatively, an application may be downloaded from our website and mailed to us. The deadline for all applications is December 1st.

What is the birthday cut off for Pre K and Kindergarten applicants?

How do I arrange a tour of the school?

Once we receive your application, someone from the admissions department will contact you to schedule a parent interview, student visit and a school tour.

What are the ‘entry points’ into Sacred Heart?

The main entry points are Pre K, Kindergarten and Grade 9. However, Sacred Heart accepts applications to any grade where a place is available. In a grade for which a place is unavailable, we accept Letters of Interest and an application. Should a place become available, the School will contact families who have expressed an interest.

Classes at Sacred Heart are very small allowing for individual instruction. The student to teacher ratio is 7:1

All those who apply to Kindergarten are invited to a Head of School Presentation in mid January.
All those who are interested in applying to Grade 9 are encouraged to attend our Fall Open House in mid October. RSVP required. No application necessary.

Beginning in Kindergarten, students may choose from a wide variety of after school educational enhancement activities that take place at school and at other locations in New York City. The after-school program offers more than 100 classes in sports, dance, art, drama, music and academic enrichment.

When is foreign language introduced?

Sacred Heart introduces both French and Spanish in Kindergarten. In Grade 1 all students will choose one of the two languages to pursue all the way through to the Grade 12. Latin is offered beginning in Grade 7 and Chinese is offered beginning in Grade 9.

Do students travel or study abroad?

The Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City is a part of a worldwide network of Sacred Heart schools, which makes it possible for the school to offer an exchange program abroad of about 3 to 10 weeks for students in Grade 10.
We regularly send students to our Sacred Heart schools in France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Australia, as well as Taiwan. This is a wonderful way to master a foreign language, discover another part of the world, make new friends, and learn and appreciate another culture.
