Prayers for Peace

The 91st Street community today responded to the terrible events in Paris and Beirut with prayers for peace. At 9 a.m., the entire school had a moment of silence followed by a recitation of St. Francis's prayer for peace. At Upper School announcements, Barbara Pachetti, chair of the foreign language department and international exchange coordinator, led Upper School students and faculty in prayers for the victims of the attacks and their families. Michael Chung, director of Upper School service and community outreach and Emily Palmer, US Art Teacher, invited students to make paper cranes for a 1000 paper crane project 91st Street will send to our sister school in Nantes, France as a sign of solidarity and support. He also announced that a community prayer banner reading "France is in our hearts" is underway. The banner will be in the Front Hall; all are invited to sign and write messages in English or French before the banner is sent to Nantes on Friday.
