Upper School students were thrilled to welcome Brian Newman and his jazz band last week! The quintet performed a whole range of jazz standards for the delighted students in the Theater. Mr. Newman, who is a renowned trumpeter and singer, is perhaps best known at 91st Street for being Lady Gaga's jazz bandleader. Mr. Newman has also collaborated with Lady Gaga and Tony Bennet on the Grammy-nominated album Cheek to Cheek, and joined them on a worldwide tour. Mr. Newman plays regularly at New York's Rose Bar at the Gramercy Park Hotel, and has appeared on television in broadcasts such as PBS's Great Performances, The Tonight Show, Saturday Night Live, Good Morning America, and of course ABC's A Very Gaga Thanksgiving, which was taped at 91st Street.
