Let us respect childhood; let us honor the soul of that small creature of God who can already make choices of the best if we take the time to awaken her reason and make her use her judgment."
-Madeleine Sophie Barat, Foundress
Welcome to Sacred Heart! For more than a century, Convent of the Sacred Heart has educated girls in the heart of New York City, guided by the Goals and Criteria that unite Sacred Heart schools around the world. Ours is an education grounded in faith, one that invites students to wonder, question, and discover. We believe that every child has her own gifts, and our role as educators is to help her share them with the world.
Sacred Heart students are challenged and stretched in a rigorous academic environment, and above all, are known. At all grade levels, Sacred Heart students learn in a community created entirely for them, where every question raised, every experiment attempted, and every stage taken belongs to a girl finding her voice. In an atmosphere of intellectual curiosity and spirituality, students grow into young women of confidence, courage, and compassion, with social awareness that impels them to action and a sense of purpose.
Whether your family is considering Kindergarten or Upper School as an entry point, we aim to provide an application process which will offer your family a variety of avenues to experience the joy of Sacred Heart. There are many opportunities to learn about our programming, connect with students and faculty, and build relationships with our 91st Street parents.
We look forward to getting to know your daughter and your family. Please reach out to us at any time so we may help you with the application process.
Warmly,
Elizabeth Cavanaugh
