Getting to Sacred Heart

The main campus of Sacred Heart is located at 1 East 91st Street and we offer a number of ways for families to travel to and from school. There is free bus transportation through the NYC Department of Education (grades K-6), free Metrocards to those who are eligible, as well as a private bus.

Consolidated Bus (grade K-6)
Sacred Heart organizes the free transportation provided by the Board of Education of the City of New York. To be eligible for this Manhattan only bus service, K - 2nd grade students must live at least ½ mile or more from school and 3rd-6th grade students must live at least 1 mile or more from school. Metrocards
Students in grades K through 12, who live more than one-half mile from school, are eligible to receive a free MetroCard for travel to and from school. Please check the Parent Resource Page for information on how to request a Metrocard. MetroCards are distributed during the first weeks of school.

Private Bus Service
Sacred Heart offers a morning bus option for transportation to school for all students beginning at age 5. Private buses are run by Mario's Transportation and are shared with neighboring independent schools. Pick-ups begin at approximately 6:15 am and buses arrive at Sacred Heart between 7:45 - 7:55 am. Stops are determined based on the locations of families who register. We offer limited afternoon service with the hope to expand. Afternoon bus service is offered for families on the “Downtown Manhattan” route. Financial assistance is available towards the cost of the private bus for families who qualify for tuition assistance.
