What is your earliest memory at Sacred Heart?
My earliest memory at Sacred Heart is my first day of school. I remember walking around with a student that had volunteered to welcome me to Sacred Heart. She showed me the classrooms and introduced me to everyone. They were very friendly and they said hello to me in the hallway throughout the next few weeks. I felt very welcomed.
Why did you choose to attend Sacred Heart?
When I came in Middle School to Sacred Heart, I decided to come because I felt like the school environment could set my foundation for my future. It has high level academics, but also a lot of activities to enjoy.
After previously attending a co-ed school, what have been the advantages of an all-girls school environment?
In an all-girls school, I feel like I am in a comfortable environment and can be more confident.
What is unique about Sacred Heart?
Even though Middle School has 200 students, we are a close-knit community. There are things that help make us close, such as having Middle School family activities, where we get to do fun stuff with students in older and younger grades.
What is one of your favorite academic project?
When we performed scenes from Shakespeare in English class, it helped me comprehend the text better. It was also fun to use costumes and props.
What subject have you become more passionate about?
I have become more passionate about science. At my old school, we didn’t have a lot of time for science. At Sacred Heart, our schedule allows us to have longer periods for dissections and experiments.
What does being a student at Sacred Heart mean to you?
It means that I am part of a close-knit community where we all have a lot of opportunities for our education.
What have you learned about yourself by being at Sacred Heart?
I have learned that I don’t have to be someone else. I can be myself and it's okay.
Which of the five Sacred Heart Goals means the most to you? Explain why.
I like Goal Two (intellectual values) because it tells students that you should always strive to work your hardest and that your education should make you love learning for life. Also, it tells us that teachers and students should always continue to learn.
You don’t live close to school – how has the commute impacted your experience?
I started taking the train to school in Grade 7. It is a long commute and sometimes I am tired in the morning, but once I get to Sacred Heart I am excited to start the day.
What electives do you take after school?
Photography is fun because you get to do it with friends and go around the school to take pictures. During Basketball, I learned a lot about teamwork and got better.
If there was only one word you could use to describe what Sacred Heart means to you, what would it be?
Comfortable.
