Cardinals for Congo

Three 91st Street students were thrilled recently to send a check for $1,700 to our sister school in the Congo, Lycée de Mbanza-Mboma. The school was devastated in a fire last year.

Alexandra Lenehan, Chlöe Kolakowski, and Olivia Robins, all Class of '21, raised the money as seventh graders last year by selling dolls at Sacred Heart's annual spring fair. Alexandra had discovered the dolls while on vacation with her family over Spring Break; with her father's help, she tracked down the manufacturer, who allowed Alexandra to purchase the dolls at cost.

Calling their booth "Cardinals for Congo," the girls then sold the dolls to the 91st Street community. They donated 100% of the proceeds to the Lycée to help the Congo school rebuild.
