e-NABLE Visits 91st Street

The Upper School was thrilled Wednesday, November 11 to welcome special guest speakers from Enabling the Future (e-NABLE), the online volunteer community dedicated to providing 3-D printed prosthetic hands to those who need them. Justine Diamond, e-NABLE's Director of Community Engagement, and her husband, an engineer and e-NABLE volunteer, shared current research and development as well as samples of new hand models, which students passed around the theater.

Making hands in partnership with e-NABLE was officially incorporated into the 91st Street math and engineering curriculum starting in September 2015. In last year's pilot program, math and engineering students produced 20 3-D printed prosthetic hands. They plan to make an additional 20 this year.
