Fourth Grade Colonial Museum

Fourth graders today hosted a living Colonial Museum, the culmination of their unit on Colonial America. Exhibits included Colonial food and drink, Colonial clothing, and Colonial children at play. In addition to detailed written work and posters, students created "artifacts" ranging from miniature rag rugs and cipher wheels to johnny cakes, candied orange peel, and jam. As parents, teachers and third graders browsed the displays, fourth graders stood by to explain the history and process behind their work. Each station also included a decidedly 21st century touch: a laptop with videos students had created of their works in progress.
