Bestselling author Julie Lythcott-Haims (How to Raise an Adult) enthralled parents November 12 at 91st Street's evening Speaker Series 2018. More than 230 guests attended.
Both humorous and moving, Ms. Lythcott-Haims shared anecdotes from her own experiences to illustrate the importance of helping children discover their own unique paths to adulthood. She then took questions and signed copies of her two books, the New York Times bestseller How to Raise an Adult, and her critically acclaimed memoir on race, Real American.
Ms. Lythcott-Haims also spoke to Upper School students, eighth graders, faculty and staff at different points throughout the school day.
Ms. Lythcott-Haims served as the dean of freshmen and undergraduate advising at Stanford University, where she received the Dinkenspiel Award for her contributions to the undergraduate experience. She holds a BA from Stanford, a JD from Harvard Law, and an MFA from California College of the Arts. Her TED talk on overparenting has over 3 million views. Her next book on how to be an adult is expected in 2020.
