Our Sacred Heart athletes have had a very strong start to their fall athletics season. Here are some of the highlights for Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball, and Tennis.
Varsity Cross Country had a terrific preseason and started the AAIS season last week with a bang, coming in 2nd overall in the very first AAIS meet!
Varsity Soccer began its season with a win over Loyola. They took on Columbia Prep a few days later and won the game 2-1. The Cardinals then took Saint Ann's down 5-0 with strong play from everyone on the team!
Varsity Tennis took on The Hewitt School for their first opponent but lost after a long fight in a 3-2 tiebreaker. Next, they traveled up to The Masters School. Despite some very strong play from our singles and creative net play by our doubles, only Payton Meehan ’25 and Isabelle Martini ’26 were able to take home a win. The team then took on the reigning undefeated AAIS champions, Spence, but couldn’t defeat them, losing all 5 matches with some spirited play.
Varsity Volleyball took on The Calhoun School the first week of school and despite some great rallies, Calhoun managed to take the match in 3 sets. The Cardinals then hosted their annual 12-team volleyball tournament, making its return after a COVID hiatus! The team won their bracket in a strong showing against Dalton. The Cardinals also played Friends this past Friday, taking the match in 3 very quick sets that showcased the skills of the entire team.
Junior Volleyball is looking very strong this year, starting their season off with a 2-1 win over Chapin. They also took on Nightingale and came away with a 2-0 win!
