Cristina and Gadea

What is your earliest memory at Sacred Heart?

G: I remember Ms. Fitzpatrick, my first teacher at Sacred Heart. She was so nice – she made me feel happy every day.

C: I remember Ms. Weil, my Kindergarten teacher. She was always happy and smiling. She made me feel at home.

Do you like being in a school with all girls?

C: YES!

G: Me too. Girls are quieter and we get to play tag without boys, which is less rough.

What is unique about Sacred Heart?

G: The new building! It has lots of places for us to swim, have fun and play sports!

C: The teachers are really, really nice.

What was your favorite project this year?

G: The endangered animal project. I made a penguin from papier-mâché. It was fun and I learned a lot about penguins.

C: In social studies I liked building our own landmarks. I made the Queensboro Bridge and learned so much about NYC.

What does being a 2nd grader mean to you?

G: It means getting more mature and growing up fast.

C: Wow, Gadea, you are really good at this. I would have said the same thing.

Which is your favorite of the five Sacred Heart Goals?

C: Goal 2, because learning is actually fun! I like learning new things, especially math – division, multiplication and fractions.

G: Goal 4, because the people at Sacred Heart are part of your family. I feel like people here really care about me.

Are you excited about the new Athletics and Wellness Center?

G: Yes. I love everything – especially the PE and the pool!

C: I love swimming there.

Who inspires you?

C: That’s tricky. I think it would be Paulette Bogan. She came to school and taught us how to draw animals step-by-step. She showed us how to draw animals we didn’t think we could draw, like a mouse, pig, penguin and chicken.

G: There are a lot of people that inspire me, but mostly it’s Ms. Brown [the LS art teacher]. She makes us do things we don’t think we can do, but then it turns out we can do it!

If there were only one word you could use to describe what Sacred Heart means to you, what would it be?

G: Learning.

C: Awesome.
