What made you choose Sacred Heart?
When I visited Sacred Heart, I felt there was sense of community between the teachers and the students. I didn’t get that sense at other schools.
What is unique to you about Sacred Heart?
I think the openness and welcoming atmosphere. All the faculty and staff want to see the students succeed and they try to do everything that they can to help us reach our goals.
Which subjects are your favorite and why?
My favorite subjects are math and English. Math I have always loved because it involves problem solving and I like the challenging aspect. I have loved English this year because I enjoyed reading the novels and hearing the insights from my teachers. One of my favorite books this year was Julius Caesar.
If there was one word to describe Sacred Heart, what would it be and why?
Community. Because there is always a connection between each person here and everyone knows everyone and it is such a close-knit family.
What extracurricular activities are you involved in?
I am a three-season athlete, volleyball, basketball and track. I really love the team aspect of athletics and feel very supported.
I am also involved in the computer science club and the entrepreneurship club. I love these two clubs because they allow me to build a connection with some of the upperclassmen.
I am also involved in forensics, which has boosted my confidence both in and out of the classroom. I really enjoy being on this team.
As you finish 9th grade, how was your transition this year?
It was definitely a change going from a small co-ed school to an all-girls environment in the city. It did take a while to adjust, but my teachers were amazing and helped smooth the transition by really making me feel as though I belonged here. My classmates were also really supportive of me. Everyone is friendly with everyone. We are all really connected with each other, and I feel I know each of my classmates.
